I am generally of the opinion that the vast majority of blogs are unfortunate and self-centred testaments to ADD. Most of these streams of unconsciousness are ill considered, and, especially when trying to be "intelligent" or pretending to give great thought to large questions and problems, much like the ruminations of barroom philosophers. Pure bluster and indefensible opinion given artificial importance because they are being shouted loudly.

Worse, the coterie of bloggers that give heart to one another through their mutual admiration and support are doing nobody a service. They are, in fact, rewarding and affirming in one another the misguided pseudo-intellectual meanderings of those with too little to think about and too much to say.

This is my general position. Yet, incongruously, I continue to monitor several blogs and every now and then perpetrate the same crime by posting to this log. I am a blog-fraud, however, because I can't stand behind my own words. That is I can't find anything to say in this form that I feel is contributing to anything at all. As a result the posts have no connection to those things in which I have developing interest and expertise. My prejudice is toward the essay form, which allows the considered exposition of a thought rather than a mere written information fart.

Knock yourselves out.
