Cell-phone melanoma

Karolinska Institutet, in Sweden, is a famous cancer (research) hospital. What they say ought to be given weight. Recently a study from Karolinska finds that long-term cell phone use is causing "acoustic melanoma." So, your cell phone use on crowded airplanes and buses is not just making us sick -- it's making you sick too. Story here: Mobile phone use and acoustic neuroma; snip here:

A study from the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, found that 10 or more years of mobile phone use increase the risk of acoustic neuroma and that the risk increase was confined to the side of the head where the phone was usually held. . . . Acoustic neuroma is a benign tumour on the auditory nerve that usually grows slowly over a period of years before it is diagnosed. It occurs in less than one adult per 100,000 per year.

As one of those rare individuals who can actually leave his home and put one foot in front of the other without feeling compelled to immediately field or initiate a telephone call, this latest research news about the link between cancer and cell phone use was a non-starter. It is interesting, however, that scientific research shows that cellular technology cann kill you while the rational, thinking mind still refuses to acknowledge same. I refer, specifically, to the lady who rear-ended me with her car a couple of weeks back. There I was - stopped! no less - when suddenly - PRANG! I felt my vehicle jerk forward a few feet. I got out of the car and went behind to find this lady in her car, STILL on her cell phone while eating, driving, putting on her make-up and trying to care for two toddlers in the back seat. While I am aware that the sisterhood has mastered the art of multi-tasking, I found this person to be "pushing the envelope" somewhat. So I took pictures - 14 in all - to help me NAIL THIS IDIOT TO A WALL in a court of law. Oops! I'm ranting. Sorry!
